PLACES OF INTEREST, EXCURSIONS

OUTSKIRTS:

RAIGARDAS VALLEY – landscape reserve situated in the Nemunas valley, was formed nearly 5 thousand years ago.

LIŠKIAVA – has monuments of national importance: church with monastery, mound, stone with a "Footprint of a bull" ("Jaučio pėda").

THE DZŪKIJA NATIONAL PARK – is the largest national park in Lithuania, occupying an area of 55 900 ha, visiting Čepkeliai rezerve, deep source „Ūla eye“ („Ūlos akis“), museum and the oldest village.

MUSEUMS:

The Museum of Druskininkai Town – exhibits works of art, books, town and outskirts history. It presents Lithuanian, Polish and Belarus archival materials.

The Memorial Museum of M.K. Čiurlionis - M.K. Čiurlionis (1875 – 1911) presents the exhibition at the artist's childhood home with unique daily life appliances, artist’s creative works, biography and family life.

The Gallery of V.K. Jonynas – presents the artist’s Vytautas Kazimiera  Jonynas (1907 – 1997) art exposition: drawings, prints, paintings, sculptures, stained-glass projects.

THE SMALL GALLERY —presents modern pieces of art by Lithuanian and foreign artists. Here the artist group “3X” organizes open – air sessions “The days of M.K. Čiurlionis“.

STONE SCULPTURES PARK – was found in 2000 for the memory of  Ž.Lipšicas. Thirteen sculptures created during the open – air sessions, make the park of the sanatorium “ Draugystė" look more attractive. These are sculptures are made by: V. Narutis, A. Vytėnas, A. Balkė, G. Žilys, M. Šlektavičius, A. Šnaras, M. Lukošius, S. Širvinkas, G. Mažintas, K. Venclovas, A. Ališauskas. GRŪTAS PARK – presents statues from the Soviet Period taken from all Lithuanian towns to the fir and pine forest.

WIND MILL – a wind mill is built by a folk artist A.Česnulis. The mill is surrounded by the unique wooden buildings and wooden carvings.

MUSEUM OF FOREST “GIRIOS AIDAS”—oak hollows present exhibitions of animals and birds.

DRUSKININKAI TOURISM AND INFORMATION CENTRE – gives information about Druskininkai, places of interest, accommodation and other services.

EXCURSIONS:

• Excursion around Druskininkai, the Dzūkija National Park, excursion by boat to Liškiava, excursion to the capital Vilnius, Trakai.
• Footpath or cycling: “ The Sun Path” („Saulės takas“), "The Orbit of Stars" (Žvaigždžių orbita) and the Žilvinas Track (Žilvino takas) enable you to enjoy the wonderful nature in the resort.
