"Draugystė" sanatorium was established in 1962. After renovation it turned to a cozy, modern and attractive institution, providing therapeutic, accommodation, wellness as well as tourism services to Lithuanian and foreign guests.

UAB “Draugystė‘s sanatorium“(Ltd.) administered European Union structural funds project

“Accommodation and tourism services improvement in UAB “Draugystė‘s senatorium“(Ltd.)“. The project is worth – 9 million Lt.  After the project, the company became more competitive, the quality of the service was improved.

Villa “Vingis” opened its door after the reconstruction on the 1^st of August, 2005. The hotel – villa, having 70 accommodation units, is included into Lithuanian cultural values register. You can enjoy wonderful panorama of the Nemunas curve through the villa’s window. There are 35 comfortable modern double and suite rooms, modern wellness centre with a bathhouse, swimming pool, whirling bath, cafe - restaurant.

In the year 2006 the Central Building was reconstructed. The building facade was renovated, windows and roofing were changed. The rooms have new furniture, carpets. Outdoor pool with underwater streams, cascades and sun- bathing zones were opened in the southern part of the sanatorium. Sport fields were better equipped, two outdoor tennis courts established.

Old treatment traditions, wonderful nature, surrounding which is improved every day and expanding tourism infrastructure will help you to have a good rest, restore health, forget problems and enjoy your time.

„Draugystė“ sanatorium‘s history

„Draugystė“ senatorium is counting its fifty years. The main building was built in 1953. The first holiday makers came to the sanatorium in April, 1962. The building process took ten years and finally the building was considered to be the most beautiful and the best equipped building in the resort.

In 1963 the sanatorium „Draugystė“ was confirmed as the main republican sanatorium. There was a methodical organizational  working unit established. Doctors and nurses advanced training sessions, scientific – practical conferences, symposiums were organized there. Balneology research laboratory, Druskininkai department, started its activity in “Draugystė“ sanatorium in 1957. Members of the Research group, doctors, biologists and chemists researched resort's natural therapeutic factors and their usage possibilities for the diseases' treatment for thirty years. Scientific researches were generalized by treatment methodic recommendations meant for Lithuanian doctors. There were three doctor’s of medicine and thirteen doctor’s of medicine candidate’s dissertations defended. They covered topics based on gastroenterology, cardiology, movement - support, gynecology, pulmonology, ophthalmology and dermatology.

Specialists and laboratory researchers of the sanatorium took care about Lithuanian resorts therapeutic – prophylaxis methodic and greatly influenced balneology development in Lithuania.

In 1973 when sanatoriums “Draugystė“ and „Dzūkija” were joined the number of accommodation units was increased  from 300 to 630. The sanatorium helps people with heart, blood vessels and digestive tract diseases. There is a library, having lots of specialized literature for all medics from Druskininkai health resort.

On the 27^th of January, 1973 UAB "Draugystės sanatorija“ (Ltd.) was established. During the period of 1993 – 1994, the administration was renovated according to the laws for Limited Liability Company. Economics of the sanatorium was rearranged, its material basis is constantly improved.

Villas “Kolonada” and “ Nykštukas“ were renovated and reconstructed during the  period of

1996 – 1998.

In 2001 wellness and beauty centre “Afroditė“ with a mineral water pool, bathhouse, massage cabinets was opened.

In 2003 the hotel “Violeta” was awarded by four stars.

In 2005 European Union help reached UAB "Draugystės sanatorija“(Ltd.). Using the mentioned funds villa “Vingis” was fully reconstructed, its first building was reconstructed, outdoor pool was set. This is a unique wellness complex with rest and sun-bathing zones, sport fields and outdoor tennis courts.
